MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team fell to host Georgia College 9-0 as the Falcons dropped their first match of the season Feb. 20.
The Bobcats are ranked No. 13 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II national rankings and are ranked No. 4 in the association's Southeast Region rankings.
Freshman Alina Munteanu fell to Camille Clausse-Pujo of Georgia College 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles' match. Freshman Emily Beatty dropped the No. 2 singles' match 6-2, 6-2 against the Bearcats' Kristen Jones.
Freshman Rayne Sinclair fell to Macy Polk of Georgia College 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles' match. Senior Allison Howell dropped the No. 4 singles' match 6-1, 6-1 against the Bearcats' Jena Kelly.
Freshman Julia Berg fell to Cristalei Polk of Georgia College 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles' match. Freshman Lauren Pero dropped the No. 6 singles' match 6-4, 6-1 against the Bearcats' Emma Niemi.
Munteanu and Sinclair dropped the No. 1 doubles' match 8-3 to Clausse-Pujo and Jones. Howell and freshman Alice Copland fell to Kelly and Katie Krupp of Georgia College 8-2 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
Beatty and Berg dropped the No. 3 doubles' match against Macy Polk and Hannah Serdinia of Georgia College 8-5.
The Falcons will return to action Sunday, Feb. 21 with a Peach Belt Conference match on the road at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. First serve is set for 12 p.m. Eastern/11 a.m. Central.
