MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team surpassed its win total from last season as it picked up its eighth win of the season March 19 following a 8-1 win over host Christian Brothers University in non-conference action.
The Falcons (8-4) won all six singles' matches and two of three doubles' matches against the Buccaneers.
Freshman Alina Munteanu defeated Lauren Woog of Christian Brothers 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles' match. Freshman Emily Beatty topped the Buccaneers' Rachel Farmer 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles' match.
Freshman Julia Berg defeated Rebecca Johnson of Christian Brothers 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles' match. Freshman Rayne Sinclair topped the Buccaneers' Melody Mays 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles' match.
Senior Allison Howell defeated Carley Lane of Christian Brothers 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles' match. Freshman Lauren Pero shut out the Buccaneers' Tayler Napier 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Sinclair and Berg topped Mays and Lane 8-5 in the No. 2 doubles' match, while Munteanu and freshman Allison Whitley defeated Johnson and Napier 8-1 in the No. 3 doubles' match.
The Falcons will return to action Wednesday, March 23 with a Peach Belt Conference match against Columbus State University. First serve is set for 2 p.m. Eastern/1 p.m. Central.
