SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team swept Converse College 9-0 in a non-conference match March 29.
The Falcons (9-6) are one win away from tying the school record for the most victories in a single season set during the 2013 season.
Freshman Alina Munteanu defeated Alex Schlesener of Converse 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles' match. Freshman Emily Beatty swept the Valkyries' Margaret Pridmore 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles' match.
Freshman Julia Berg topped Samantha Sheffield of Converse 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles' match. Freshman Rayne Sinclair defeated the Valkyries' Klaire Rouse 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles' match.
Freshman Lauren Pero took down Caroline Bertling of Converse 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 5 singles' match. Freshman Allison Whitley defeated the Valkyries' Abby Roth 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Sinclair and Berg swept Schlesener and Sheffield 8-0 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Beatty and freshman Melanie Whitley topped Rouse and Taylor Littlejohn-Barr of Converse 8-2 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
Munteanu and Allison Whitley defeated Bertling and Pridmore 8-5 in the No. 3 doubles' match.
Montevallo will return to action Wednesday, March 30 with a non-conference match on the road at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia.
