MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team fell to nationally-ranked Francis Marion University 6-3 in a Peach Belt Conference contest March 5.
The Falcons won two singles' matches and one doubles' match against the Patriots, who are ranked No. 41 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II rankings.
Freshman Alina Munteanu defeated Marie Krueger of Francis Marion 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 in the No. 1 singles' match. Fellow freshman Lauren Pero topped the Patriots' Mona Piller 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 in the No. 5 singles' match.
Senior Allison Howell and freshman Alice Copland defeated Piller and Anilu Barraza Araiza 8-6 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
The Falcons return to action March 8 at Clark Atlanta University. First serve is set 1 p.m.
