ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team defeated Clark Atlanta University 7-2 in a non-conference match March 8.
The Falcons (7-3) won five of six singles' matches and two of three doubles' matches against the Panthers.
Freshman Alina Munteanu defeated Tori Pradier of Clark Atlanta 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles' match. Munteanu improved to 9-1 in No. 1 singles' action this spring.
Freshman Emily Beatty topped the Panthers' DiAndrea Galloway 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles' match. Freshman Rayne Sinclair defeated Avern Gumbs of Clark Atlanta 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles' match.
Freshman Lauren Pero topped the Panthers' Khadija Elder 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles' match. Freshman Allison Whitley won the No. 6 singles' match by default.
Senior Allison Howell and freshman Alice Copland took down Pradier and Gumbs 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Howell and Copland improved to 8-1 in doubles' matches this spring. Beatty and Whitley won the No. 3 doubles' match by default.
The Falcons will return to action Saturday, March 12 with a home match against Peach Belt Conference foe Flagler College. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
