MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team fell to visiting Clayton State University 6-3 in a Peach Belt Conference match April 2.
Freshman Alina Munteanu defeated Raluca Pavel of Clayton State 6-1, 7-6 in the No. 1 singles' match to set a new school record for the most wins in singles' matches in a single season. Munteanu improved to 17-5 overall in singles' play with the victory.
The Falcons (11-7 overall, 1-7 in Peach Belt Conference) won two singles' matches and one match in doubles' action.
Freshman Lauren Pero topped the Lakers' Carolina Monterrubio 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Senior Allison Howell and freshman Emily Beatty defeated Darina Drozdova and Maria Mendes of Clayton State 8-3 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
The Falcons will return to action Tuesday, April 5 with a non-conference match at home against Tuskegee University. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
