TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team swept Tuskegee University 9-0 in non-conference play Feb. 10.
Sophomore Alina Munteanu defeated the Golden Tigers' Reicia North 8-1 in the No. 1 singles' match. Sophomore Emily Beatty topped Monica Thomas of Tuskegee 8-0 in the No. 2 singles' match. Munteanu and Beatty played pro sets against their opponents due to the match having already been decided in the Falcons' favor.
Sophomore Julia Berg won the No. 3 singles' match against her Tuskegee opponent 6-0, 6-1. Freshman Merel Van Zutphen defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles' match.
Freshman Amanda Gautreaux won her No. 5 singles' match by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Lauren Pero topped her Tuskegee opponent 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Sophomores Alice Copland and Rayne Sinclair teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles' match 8-6. Munteanu and Van Zutphen swept the No. 2 doubles' match 8-0. Berg and Gautreaux won the No. 3 doubles' match 8-3.
The Falcons will return to action Saturday, Feb. 11 with a match on the road at Mississippi College. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
