MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 9-0 sweep of Clark Atlanta University in its home opener Feb. 18.
Sophomore Alina Munteanu defeated Tori Pradier of Clark Atlanta 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles' match. Sophomore Emily Beatty took down the Panthers' DiAndrea Galloway 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles' match.
Freshman Merel Van Zutphen topped Vanessa Eusebio of Clark Atlanta 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles' match. Sophomore Rayne Sinclair claimed the No. 4 singles' match with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of the Panthers' Alexis Fletcher.
Freshman Amanda Gautreaux defeated Keyvona Moultrie of Clark Atlanta 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles' match. Sophomore Lauren Pero topped the Panthers' Khadija Elder 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Sophomore Alice Copland and Sinclair defeated Fletcher and Moultrie 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Munteanu and Van Zutphen topped Galloway and Eusebio 8-2 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
Sophomore Julia Berg and Guatreaux swept Pradier and Elder 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles' match.
The Falcons will return to action Sunday, Feb. 19 with another home match against Spring Hill College. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
