ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The University of Montevallo women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season March 4 following a 9-0 setback on the road at nationally-ranked Flagler College.
The Falcons fell to 9-1 on the season and 1-1 in Peach Belt Conference play following the loss to the Saints, who are ranked No.12 nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II poll.

Alina Munteanu dropped her first No. 1 singles' match this spring in a 6-3, 6-2 setback against Lizanne Jinkertz of Flagler, who is ranked No. 44 nationally in the latest ITA NCAA Division II singles' rankings.

Emily Beatty fell to the Saints' Mary Jo Nanti 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles' match. Sophomore
Julia Berg dropped the No. 3 singles' match against Kelly Burge of Flagler 6-0, 6-1.

Rayne Sinclair fell to Patrycja Maslanka of Flagler 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 4 singles' match. Freshman
Amanda Gautreaux dropped the No. 5 singles' match against the Saints' Felicita Runkel 6-0, 6-1.

Lauren Pero put up a fight before falling to Hilary Hanton of Flagler 6-2, 2-6, 10-7 in the No. 6 singles' match.

Alice Copland and Sinclair fell to Jinkertz and Burge 8-1 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Munteanu and Beatty fell to Nanti and Maslanka 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
Berg and Gautreaux dropped the No. 3 doubles' match against Runkel and Hanton 8-4.
The Falcons will return to action Sunday, March 5 on the road at Armstrong State University, the top-ranked team nationally in the ITA NCAA Division II rankings.
