Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team defeated host Clark Atlanta University 8-1 in a non-conference match Feb. 20.
The Falcons improved to 6-1 overall on the season.
"Give a lot of credit to Clark Atlanta, they made us work at all spots," said Montevallo women's tennis coach Adam Albertsen. "We look to keep this momentum going and continue improving as we dive into the heart of our season."
Junior Alina Munteanu defeated DiAndrea Galloway of Clark Atlanta 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles' match. Junior Emily Beatty topped the Panthers' Vanessa Eusebio 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles' match.
Freshman Bhargavi Kalaga took down Nicola Ramdyhan of Clark Atlanta 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles' match. Freshman Maria Garcia swept the Panthers' Keyvona Moultrie 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles' match.
Junior Rayne Sinclair defeated Alexis Fletcher of Clark Atlanta 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 5 singles' match. Junior Allie Whitley fell to the Panthers' Akilah Parker 3-6, 7-6 (7-5) in the No. 6 singles' match.
Kalaga and Beatty topped Jade Shugars and Galloway of Clark Atlanta 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Garcia and Munteanu swept Eusebio and Parker 8-0 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
Sophomore Amanda Gautreaux and freshman Dorotea Hanzek took down the Panthers' Vivan Moultrie and Ramdyhan 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles' match.
The Falcons return to action Saturday, Feb. 24 with a match on the road at Birmingham-Southern College.
