BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team swept Birmingham-Southern College 9-0 in a non-conference match Feb. 22.

The Falcons improved to 7-1 on the season with the victory.

Junior Alina Munteanu defeated Carlee Petro of Birmingham-Southern 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) in the No. 1 singles' match. Freshman Bhargavi Kalaga topped the Panthers' Isabella Wisener 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles' match.

Freshman Maria Garcia knocked off Alyssa Yager of Birmingham-Southern 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles' match. Freshman Dorotea Hanzek defeated the Panthers' Virginia Hammond 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles' match.

Sophomore Amanda Gautreaux topped Emily Enoch of Birmingham-Southern 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles' match. Junior Lauren Pero defeated the Panthers' Alana Owens 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles' match.

Junior Emily Beatty and Kalaga took down Petro and Yager 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Munteanu and Garcia topped Wisener and Hammond 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles' match.

Juniors Allie Whitley and Rayne Sinclair knocked of Lexie Dillard and Enoch of Birmingham-Southern 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles' match.

The Falcons will return to action Wednesday, Feb. 28 with a match on the road at Georgia Southwestern State University.
