MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team dropped just two games on its way to a 9-0 sweep of host Spring Hill College in a non-conference match Feb. 4.
"We played well today and it was a nice tune up for Gulf South Conference play," said Montevallo women's tennis coach Adam Albertsen. "I'm very excited to see this team continue to grow together on and off the court."
Junior Alina Munteanu swept Madison Artigues of Spring Hill 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles' match. Junior Emily Beatty swept the Badgers' Rebecca Pearlman 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles' match.
Freshman Bhargavi Kalaga topped Brenda Carrada of Spring Hill 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles' match. Freshman Maria Garcia swept the Badgers' Alexandria Rayford 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles' match.
Junior Rayne Sinclair swept Elizabeth Peters of Spring Hill 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles' match. Sophomore Amanda Gautreaux swept the Badgers' Omega Davison 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Beatty and Kalaga swept Artigues and Pearlman 8-0 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Munteanu and Gautreaux swept Carrada and Rayford 8-0 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
Junior Allie Whitley and Garcia topped Davison and Jasmine Agadzi of Spring Hill 8-1 in the No. 3 doubles' match.
The Falcons will return to action in their first Gulf South Conference match Sunday, Feb. 11 on the road at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee.
