GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team swept host North Greenville University 9-0 in a non-conference match March 16.
The Falcons (13-1) extended their winning streak to eight matches following the victory.
Junior Alina Munteanu and freshman Maria Garcia picked up their 10th win of the season in doubles' play in the contest after sweeping Fernanda Santos de Lucca and Laura Brazuelo of North Greenville 8-0 in the No. 1 doubles' match.
Sophomore Amanda Gautreaux and freshman Dorotea Hanzek swept the Crusaders' Faith Moyers and Haley Hester 8-0 in the No. 2 doubles' match, while juniors Rayne Sinclair and Allie Whitley won the No. 3 doubles' match by default due to North Greenville not having enough players.
Munteanu topped the Crusaders' de Lucca 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles' match. Junior Emily Beatty defeated Brazuelo 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles' match.
Freshman Bhargavi Kalaga swept Moyers 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles' match. Garcia swept Hester 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles' match.
Hanzek swept Merit Morgan of North Greenville 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles' match, while Gautreaux won the No. 6 singles' match by default due to the Crusaders not having enough players.
The Falcons will return to action Sunday, March 18 with a match on the road at former Peach Belt Conference foe Augusta University.
