Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team defeated Tuskegee University 7-0 in its season-opening match Feb. 1 in Montgomery.

Senior Emily Beatty topped the Golden Tigers' Monica Thomas 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles' match. Freshman Anne-Christine Leu defeated Reicia North of Tuskegee 5-7, 6-5 (10-6) in the No. 2 singles' match.

Junior Amanda Gautreaux took down the Golden Tigers' Jocelynn Horton 7-5, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles' match. Freshman Whitney Hamilton topped Kori Quillin of Tuskegee 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles' match.

Senior Lauren Pero topped Chelsea McGrew of Tuskegee 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles' match. Senior Julia Berg defeated the Golden Tigers' Domninique Buckeridge 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles' match.

Sophomores Maria Garcia and Dorotea Hanzek topped North and Thomas 6-3 in the No. 1 doubles' match, while Berg and fellow senior Rayne
Sinclair defeated Jocelynn Horton and Harlow of Tuskegee 7-5 in the No. 2 doubles' match to secure the point.

The Falcons will open Gulf South Conference play with a match against Christian Brothers on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Montevallo Tennis Complex.
