MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team defeated Georgia Southwestern State University 7-0 in a non-conference match Feb. 16 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Sophomore Maria Garcia defeated Celia del Castillo of Georgia Southwestern 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles' match. Senior Emily Beatty topped the Hurricanes' Maria Taboada 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles' match.

Freshman Anne-Christine Leu defeated the Hurricanes' Sophia Winters 7-6, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles' match. Sophomore Dorotea Hanzek took down the Hurricanes' Charli Allen 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles' match. 

Junior Amanda Gautreaux topped Kendall Crew of Georgia Southwestern 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 5 singles' match and Freshman Whitney Hamilton defeated the Hurricanes' Alexandria Rhodes 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles' match.

Garcia and Hanzek topped the Hurricanes' Hannah Hogg and Winters 6-2 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Beatty and Leu defeated Taboada and Castillo of Georgia Southwestern 6-2 in the No. 2 doubles' match, while Gautreaux and Senior Rayne Sinclair defeated the Hurricanes' Allen and Crew in the No. 3 doubles' match.

The Falcons will travel to Columbus, Ga. Feb. 23 to take on Columbus State University at 1 p.m.
