MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team defeated Arkansas Tech University 5-2 in a non-conference match March 21 at Lagoon Park.

The Falcons improved to 6-5 overall on the season.
 

Sophomores Maria Garcia and Dorotea Hanzek won the No. 1 doubles' match against Annabel Rowlands and Kami Ward of Arkansas Tech 7-6.

Garcia defeated Teresa Sanchez of Arkansas Tech 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match.

Hanzek defeated Rowlands of the Golden Suns' 2-6, 7-6, 6-1, in the No.4 singles match. 

Freshman Anne-Christine Leu defeated Katie Harris 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, in the No. 3 singles match notching the third point for the Falcons. 

Junior Amanda Gautreaux defeated Daniela Baez of Arkansas Tech in the No.5 singles match 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, to clinch the match victory for Montevallo.

Freshman Whitney Hamilton defeated the Golden Suns' Alejandra Sanchez 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in the No.6 singles match pushing the Falcons over Arkansas Tech 5-2.

The Falcons will return to action Sunday, March 24 against Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida at 9:30 a.m.
