Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's tennis team edged visiting Delta State University 4-3 in their final match of the regular season April 26.

Montevallo finished the regular season 8-11 overall and 5-6 in Gulf South Conference play.

Freshman Whitney Hamilton clinched the match for the Falcons with her 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 over Katheryne Valencia of Delta State in the No. 3 singles' match.

Junior Amanda Gautreaux topped Ione' Derode of Delta State 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles' match.

Senior Rayne Sinclair defeated Nathalia Steltzer of Delta State 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles' match.

The Falcons swept all three doubles' matches to earn the doubles' point.

Sophomores Maria Garcia and Dorotea Hanzek defeated Nathalia Sato and Fabiola Cardenas 6-3 in the No. 1 doubles' match.

Senior Emily Beatty and freshman Anne-Christine Leu topped Beth Owen and Nathalia Steltzer 7-6 in the No. 2 doubles' match, while senior Rayne Sinclair and Gautreaux edged Sophie St. Amant and Katheryne Valencia 7-6 in the No. 3 doubles' match.

The Falcons earned the No. 7 seed in the Gulf South Conference Tournament and will face the No. 2 seed, University of West Florida, in the semifinals Thursday, May 2 in Montgomery.
