MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo volleyball coach
Katie O'Brien is pleased to announce the signing of
Sydney Smith,
Macy Lowery and
Emily McCook in the Class of 2019.
Smith is a right-side hitter and middle blocker from Smyrna, Tennessee. Lowery is an outside hitter and right-side hitter from Helena, Alabama. McCook is an outside hitter from Huxley (Alberta), Canada.
Smith graduated from Smyrna High School in Smyra, Tennessee and will enroll as a freshman in the fall. Smith was named First Team All-District 9AAA during her junior season and was named "Most Athletic" in her class. She also competed with the Middle Tennessee Volleyball Club team.
Smith is the daughter of Gary and Dana Smith and will major in Psychology at the University of Montevallo.
Lowery graduated from Helena High School in Helena, Alabama and will enroll as a freshman in the fall. Lowery served as the President of the National Science Honors Society and was an alum of Youth Leadership Shelby County. She also competed with the NASA South Club team.
Lowery is the daughter of DeLeisa and Buster Lowery and will major in Mathematics at the University of Montevallo.
McCook graduated from Innisfail High School in Innisfail (Alberta), Canada in the spring of 2017 and has competed at NCAA Division I University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff the past two years. McCook will arrive as a junior transfer in the fall. McCook recorded 48 kills and 10 blocks during her two seasons at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. She was named the Female Athlete of the Year twice at Innisfail High School and earned Academic Honors throughout her high school career.
McCook is the daughter of Leonard and Jacqueline McCook and will major in Exercise Science at the University of Montevallo.
The trio joins incoming freshman
Morgan Hoffman, who signed with the Falcons last fall, to complete the signing class for the upcoming season.
