MONTEVALLO – Entering his fourth year, assistant coach
Jason McCown has been promoted to be the volleyball associate head coach, Montevallo Director of Athletics
Mark Richard announced Friday.
"Jason is a strong recruiter and understands what it takes for a student-athlete to succeed at the University of Montevallo, both on the court and in the classroom. He works hard and I am grateful for his support during the last 3 years, especially during the challenges of last year with Covid. Jason has grown during his time at Montevallo and last year was a reflection of that. We are looking forward to seeing what this fall brings," remarked head coach
Katie O'Brien. "Jason has a passion for the game of volleyball. He has always shown strong abilities as a coach through both his leadership on the bench and his passion to develop players individually. He works hard studying the game of volleyball and loves video, which provides the players with the opportunity for success."
Senior setter
Sav Roys opened up about the impact McCown has made, "Jason has helped me tremendously not only on the court, but off the court as well. He truly is an amazing coach and an incredible person that is willing to put others first and show extreme compassion in every situation. I've learned so much from him in these few short years in volleyball and in life and I couldn't be more grateful to have him as our coach."
