BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Montevallo volleyball junior
Casey Hendrixson was named the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, Tuesday.
The Burleson, Texas native earns the award for the second consecutive week after totaling 40 digs and averaging 5.0 digs per set in a split weekend.
The junior libero opened the week with 23 digs in a 3-1 win over West Georgia before totaling 17 digs in a loss to Valdosta State.
She also added 13 total assists this week.
Hendrixson leads all GSC players with 470 digs on the season, 28 more than second-place, with a league-leading average of 4.80 digs per set. She ranks 20
th and 48
th across in NCAA Division II in each of those categories, respectively.
Hendrixson and the Falcons return to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 25 as the team hosts West Florida at 6 p.m. in Trustmark Arena.
