JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Montevallo track & field program submitted a solid overall performance at the Eastern Tennessee State University Buccaner Invitational, this past weekend in Johnson City, Tennessee.
"Solid weekend heading into the indoor conference championships. It was highlighted by three school records - Nyla Shipman in the women's shot put and
Gaines Myrick in the men's shot put and men's weight throw. We had a few seasonal and personal best. Every group is working hard and getting better. We are excited to see what we can do at the conference championships," remarked head coach
Tommy Barksdale.
Caleb Kariuki submitted one of UM's highest finish, taking fourth place in the triple jump with a 14.22m mark.
Braxton Sanford also had a fourth place finish in the pole vault with a 4.30m mark.
Nate Boleware took fifth place in the long jump with a 6.79m distance.
Will McBride placed fifth in the 400 meter finals with a time of 49.94.
Joseph Pitard finished high in the 5k, taking fifth with a time of 15.28.05.
Keegan Rafferty,
Julian Fore,
Aidan Golden, and
Bill Archer joined forces to finish fifth in the distance relay finals.
Gaines Myrick rewrote the Montevallo record book with his performance in the throws. Â Myrick submitted a UM record in both the weight throw (15.58m) to place sixth, and the shot put (13.91m), placing eighth.
Zauren Burton had one of the top finishes for UM, claiming third in the high jump with a 1.55m mark.

Caroline Hendon,
Amber Fisher, and
Natalie Warner took third place in the distance medley relay finals with a time of 13:19.03.
Skylar Suggitt placed fourth in the pole vault with a 3.30 mark
Nyla Shipman notched a school record in the shot put with a 12.29m mark finishing in sixth place.
UP NEXT:The Falcons will be at the Birmingham Crossplex for the GSC Indoor Championship, starting with events scheduled to begin on Tuesday, February 15th.
