MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo track and field squads posted a second place finish on the men's side with the women's team taking third after the second day of the annual Falcon Classic that featured 24 teams over a two-day span.
In the men's track events,
Joe Leventry highlighted the afternoon with a first-place finish in the 800-meter race (1:55.37) before adding a second-place time of 3:53.35 in the 1,500-metter race. Freshman
Matthew Gray added a podium finish to his day with a third-place time of 10.93-seconds in the 100-meter dash. In the distance events,
Drew Roberts posted a fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter (15:18.84). Both men's 4x100-meter relay teams finished second and fifth with times of 43.08 and 43.93, respectively.
J'Brelin Cook,
Matthew Gray,
Amari Lewis and
Julian Fore ran the third-best time of the 4x400-meter relay at 3:28.14.
On the field side of the men's meet,
Alex Malone took third in the long jump with a leap of 6.68-meters while
Caleb Kariuki finished fifth with a mark of 6.54-meters. Sophomore
Braxton Sanford earned a fourth-place finish in the pole vault after clearing 4.45-meters. Kariuki's day also saw a third-place mark of 14.14-meters in the triple jump.
The Falcons' multi athletes were led by
Micah Flores who took second in the multi table with 5,388 points with two first-place finishes on Saturday with a mark of 4.10-meters in the pole vault and a time of 5:00.93 in the 1,500-meter.
The women's track events were highlighted by
Amber Fisher's two first-place marks in the 800-meter (2:21.36) and the 1,500-meter races (4:57.07). Sophomore
Hannah Smith added two top-fives in the sprints with times of 12.32 (fifth) and 26.01-seconds (fourth) in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
Courtney Keeler took fourth in the 5K with a time of 18:47.07.
In the women's field events,
Zauren Burton and
Alyssa Perez finished third and fourth in the high jump with heights of 1.55 and 1.45-meters, respectively.
Sydney Goode and
Kylie Carroll posted marks of 5.07 (fifth) and 5.06-meters (sixth), respectively, in the long jump. In the pole vault,
Leah Dendy took second with a height of 3.45-meters while Skyler Suggitt finished fourth with a mark of 3.30-meters.
Kiffin Brun was the lone Falcon competing in the heptathlon. The sophomore finished eighth in the in the event with a total of 3,010 points.
