BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has named Montevallo volleyball's
Nikol Antova Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Antova has now received back-to-back GSC Freshman of the Week awards.
The freshman from Vidin, Bulgaria has been on fire for the Falcons as she totaled 46 kills on a .292 hitting percentage, 30 digs, four assist, three aces and a block last week for Montevallo. Antova recorded two double-double with a 16 kill/16 dig match against Trevecca Nazarene and a 25 kill/10 dig match in the victory against Lee. Her 25 kills against Lee is the first time a Falcon has reached 25 kills in a match since 2018.
In the GSC, Antova has the second most kills and is 41
st nationally with 170. She is also second in the Gulf South with 189.5 points. She has three of the top five kill total matches from any player inside the GSC this season with 21 against Lander on Sept. 20, 21 against Francis Marion on Sept. 14 and 25 against Lee on Sept. 28.
Antova and the rest of the Falcons will be back in action for Pack the Sac/T-Mobile Night as the Falcons take on Mississippi College. First serve set for 6:00 p.m. CT inside Central State Bank Arena.
