MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Montevallo men's and women's track and field opened the outdoor season on Saturday at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals hosted by Berry College.
Montevallo women's track and field saw a pair of winners in the field events with freshman
Emily Wolf setting a personal best in the discus with a throw of 40.33-meters (first). At the pole vault, Montevallo's
Leah Dendy took first place after clearing 3.41-meters for her first podium of the outdoor season. Wolf added a second-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.50-meters while taking second in the shot put with a mark of 12.07-meters.
Elizabeth Hayhurst threw 38.92-meters for second in the javelin while
Skylar Suggitt's mark of 3.26-meters earned the junior second.
Sydney Goode rounded out Montevallo's field podiums on the women's side with a third-place mark of 5.00-meters in the long jump.
Montevallo also saw a winner on the track with the men's 4x400-meter relay team of
Walter Womack,
Julian Fore,
Tyrone Reese and
Amari Lewis running a time of 3:22.91. Lewis and Womack paired with
Dwight Bellamy and
Ja'lon Benson to take a podium finish with a 42.27 mark in the 4x100-meter relay. Womack also added fourth-place time of 50.06 in the men's 400-meter race while
Drew Roberts took fourth place in the 1,500-meter run with a mark of 4:08.09. In the 100-meter hurdles, Reese ran a fourth-place time of 15.66.
The women's side of the track was highlighted by a pair of podium finishes from
Sarah Turner (second) and
Natalie Warner (third) in the 1,500-meter race with times of 4:59.63 and 5:01.27, respectively. Junior
Reagan Oliver added a sixth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:34.29. The Falcons' 4x100-meter team of
Khila Corrothers,
Farrah Hawkins,
Sydney Goode, and
Destiny Betton took home a third-place finish after posting a time of 50.37.
Montevallo's
Zane Weeks posted the highest finish in the men's field events with a third-place finish in the javelin after throwing a personal best 50.60-meters. Weeks was followed by fellow freshman
Aaron Tan with a fourth-place throw of 47.38-meters.
Montevallo continues the outdoor season as the host of the annual Falcon Classic on March 15-16.
