BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Montevallo track and field teams closed the weekend strong with three podium finishes and 18 personal records at the Samford Open on Saturday.
Zauren Burton secured the highest finish for UM, placing second in the Women's High Jump (1.60m). A pair of Falcons secured third place finishes in the 5000m as
Natalie Warner ran a 18:40.56 in the Women's 5000m and
Jackson Howse ran a 15:07.39 in the Men's 5000m.
On the men's side, Howse and 11 others saw personal records at the Samford Open. Six of those came in the running events including
Corey Perkins (60m – 7.25),
Chason Howard (60m – 7.26),
Jayvian Kendrick (60m Hurdles – 8.51), Kendrick Croft (60m Hurdles – 9.00),
Parker Hicks (1 Mile – 4:33.95), and
Nathaniel Loving (3000m – 9:10.34). Five came in fielding events including
Austin Abney (Pole Vault – 4.26m),
Drew Cheslock (Triple Jump – 13.07m),
Caleb Newell (Weight Throw – 15.39m),
Josh Kreis (Weight Throw – 13.09m), and
Wyatt Pugh (Weight Throw – 11.17m).
On the women's side, six saw personal records in
Hallie Harrell (60m – 9.87),
Samantha Bennett (200m – 26.11),
Libby Wright (400m – 1:05.18),
Sarah Turner (1 Mile – 5:20.44),
Abby Snyder (3000m – 11:33.25), and
Brooke Ramsey (5000m – 20:18.30).
Montevallo returns to action in two weeks for the UAB Vulcan Invite and UAB Green and Gold Invite (Feb. 7 – Feb. 8).
