Falcons Dominate Doubleheader over Miles to Extend Win Streak to Six

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team earned a pair of run rule victories over Miles (11-3, 8-0) to extend its win streak to six on Tuesday evening.

GAME ONE
Kinsley Byrd, Mya Young, and Berkley Mooney combined to allow no earned runs in game one. Young was credited with the win, notching her second victory of the season.

Montevallo struck first as Kiley Christopher hit an RBI-double to score Skylar Johnson and put the Falcons up, 1-0, in the bottom of the second.

Miles responded with a run of its own in the top of the third to tie the game, 1-1.

The Falcons looked to respond as Bentlee Stiner started things off with a leadoff single. Molly Pendley solidified the response with a two-run home run to put the Falcons back ahead, 3-1, in the bottom of the third.

The Bears plated a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game once again, 3-3.

Montevallo responded with a huge bottom of the fourth inning, scoring seven runs. Ariana Pinder drove in a pair of runs, as she doubled up the middle to score Emma Hawkins and Riley Tyree, putting the Falcons ahead, 5-3. Pendley followed that up with her second home run of the day to extend the lead to, 7-3. Kiley Christopher hit a bases clearing-triple later in the inning to give Montevallo a commanding, 10-3, advantage.

After three straight outs for Miles in the top of the fifth, Pinder and Pendley hit back-to-back doubles in the bottom half of the inning to secure the 11-3 run rule victory in game one.

GAME TWO
Taylor Lloyd got the start in the circle in game two and was solid, holding the Bears scoreless through four innings to pick up her seventh win of the season. Lloyd allowed three hits and struck out six batters. Rachel Whiddon and Addy Tillery combined to record the final three outs.

Montevallo started the second game strong, plating four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Madison Fargo, Ellie Derrick, and Kennedy Hussey all recorded RBIs, as the Falcons held a, 4-0, lead.

The Falcons struck again in the bottom of the third, as Hussey earned another RBI, hitting a sac-fly to score Molly Pendley and put Montevallo ahead 5-0. Emma Hawkins reached on an error later in the inning to score Emma Faulk and Ellie Derrick, giving the Falcons a, 7-0, advantage.

Montevallo added another run in the bottom of the fourth, as Pendley hit an RBI-triple to score Bentlee Stiner and put Montevallo ahead, 8-0.

Whiddon and Tillery recorded the final three outs to secure the 8-0 run-rule victory for Montevallo.
