GARDENDALE, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team had a dominant showing on Wednesday, earning a pair of run rule victories over Miles (10-1, 19-0) at Bill Noble Park.
Bentlee Stiner tied the program record for most home runs hit in a game (three), while the 19 runs scored by Montevallo as a team sits as the second most in program history.
GAME ONE
Rachel Whiddon,
Berkley Mooney and
Mya Young all split time in the circle, allowing only one run total for the Bears in game one. Mooney was credited with her third win of the season, as she pitched 2.2 innings total.
Montevallo struck first in game one, as
Ariana Pinder hit a sac-fly to score
Becca Benton in the top of the first.
The Falcons followed that up with a strong, five run-second inning.
Skylar Johnson scored the second Falcon run of the day on a throwing error, putting UM up 2-0.
Bentlee Stiner followed that up with an RBI-single and
Riley Tyree hit a two run-triple, putting UM ahead, 5-0.
Becca Benton added a sacrifice-groundout to score Tyree and give the Falcons a 6-0 advantage.
Montevallo added another run in the third inning, as
Kiley Christopher reached on a fielder's choice which brought in
Molly Pendley, extending the lead to 7-0.
The Falcons extended the advantage to eight runs in the top of the fourth, as
Madison Fargo scored on a wild pitch.
Miles scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to, 8-1, extending the game.
The Falcons responded with a pair of runs in the sixth, as Benton hit an RBI-double and Pinder added an RBI-groundout, putting Montevallo ahead, 10-1.
Mya Young sat down all three Miles' batters in the bottom of the sixth, to secure the 10-1 run rule victory in game one.

GAME TWO
Taylor Lloyd got the start in the circle and earned her eighth win of the season. The junior picked up three strikeouts in three innings pitched.
Kinsley Byrd and
Addy Tillery pitched the final two innings, preserving the complete game shutout.
The Falcons got off to a strong start in game two, as
Bentlee Stiner led the game with a solo-home run.
Riley Tyree followed that up with a triple and ultimately stole home to put the Falcons ahead, 2-0.
Molly Pendley,
Ellie Derrick and
Madison Fargo added RBIs to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead in the top of the first.
The Falcons extended the lead to double digits in the top of the second inning.
Ariana Pinder hit a two RBI-double and Pendley followed that up with a two run-home run in the next at-bat, putting the Falcons ahead, 10-0.
Montevallo added three more runs in the top of the third, as
Bentlee Stiner hit her second home run of the day and
Becca Benton scored on a wild pitch.
RBIs from Stiner and
Riley Tyree in the top of the fourth extended the lead to 16-0.
The top of the fifth saw a pair of home runs, as Fargo hit her first home run of the year and Stiner recorded her third home run of the game.
The Bears were kept quiet, as Montevallo secured its second run rule victory of the day, earning a dominant 19-0 victory.
