MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team is set to face Christian Brothers in a three-game series in Memphis, Tenn. this weekend.
So Far This Season…
Montevallo holds an overall record of 23-20 and a 12-12 mark in GSC play.
The Falcons opened the season, splitting a pair of games against ranked opponents at the Gulf Shores Invitational, defeating No. 24 Oklahoma Christian (3-2) and falling to No. 9 Rogers State. Montevallo posted a 3-2 record at the Chillout, as the Falcons earned wins over Kentucky Wesleyan (4-0), Shorter (4-3), and Young Harris (9-7), before falling to Georgia Southwestern and Lincoln Memorial. The Falcons opened conference play with a 2-1 series victory at West Florida. The next week the Falcons split a midweek doubleheader with Spring Hill, before dropping the weekend series with Mississippi College (2-1). Montevallo then split its midweek doubleheader with Columbus State, before dropping three games to No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene on the weekend. The Falcons followed that up dropping a pair of midweek games at Georgia Southwestern, before falling in the weekend series to Alabama Huntsville (2-1). Montevallo went on to win five in a row, sweeping No. 24 West Alabama at home, winning all three games in walk-off fashion, before notching a pair of run rule victories over Miles. The Falcons dropped its next series to Valdosta State, before rebounding with a doubleheader sweep at Miles, followed by a 2-1 series victory at Lee.
The Falcons were strong this past weekend, taking all three games from Delta State at home.
Taylor Lloyd led the way in the circle capturing two wins in a pair of complete game performances. Lloyd's efforts led her to being named GSC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and third time in her career. Montevallo followed that up with a doubleheader split at Spring Hill on Wednesday.
On the season,
Ariana Pinder posts the highest batting average (.343), while
Riley Tyree leads the team in hits (46), doubles (11), and triples (five).
Becca Benton leads the team in RBIs (30) and has the highest slugging percentage (.607). Benton shares a team leading seven home runs with
Molly Pendley.
Taylor Lloyd has seen the most time in the circle, pitching a total of 129 innings. The junior has recorded ten wins, two saves, and 106 strikeouts, while posting a 2.44 ERA.
Rachel Whiddon has recorded five wins, while posting a 3.21 ERA in 48 innings, while
Berkley Mooney posts a 3.26 ERA in 43 innings pitched.

Christian Brothers holds an overall record of 15-24 and a 6-18 mark in GSC play.
The Lady Bucs have gone 9-6 in non-conference action throughout the season. Christian Brothers dropped its first nine GSC contests, falling to Alabama Huntsville, West Florida, and West Alabama. Christian Brothers responded with a 2-1 series victory over Delta State, before dropping three games to No. 5 Auburn Montgomery. Christian Brothers followed that up with its second series victory, taking two of three games against Lee. The Lady Bucs have dropped its last two series against Trevecca Nazarene and Mississippi College.
On the season, Riley Simpson leads the team in multiple categories including batting average (.283), hits (30), doubles (eight), RBIs (23), on-base percentage (.377), and slugging percentage (.500).
Gabby Dickerson has seen the most time in the circle and holds an 8-10 record. Dickerson posts a 3.55 ERA in 101.1 innings pitched. Emily Schooler (3-7) posts a 5.34 ERA in 64 innings pitched.

Since 2018, these two squads have met 15 times with Montevallo holding a 14-1 advantage in the overall series. The Falcons swept the series last season in Montevallo.
