Five Falcons Named USILA South Region All-Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association has released its Div. II All-Region teams with four Falcons named to the South Region All-Region squad.

Junior goalkeeper Alex Egorshin was the lone Falcon named Second Team All-Region while Matthew Boas, Brandon Shaffner, Caden Chalut, and Ryan Andrews were each named Honorable Mentions.
 
Egorhin's All-Region honor follows a year that featured a league-best 14.75 saves per game while adding a Peach Belt Conference leading 236 saves on the season. The junior's .601 save percentage ranks at the top of the PBC and fourth among national leaders. In a full 60 minutes in goal, Egorshin allowed a season-low five goals on two separate occasions while adding a season-high 22 saves twice. His 2024-25 performance also earned the Hoover, Ala. native PBC Defender of the Year honors for the third-consecutive season.
 
Boas earned his All-Region selection with a PBC high 54 goals on the season for an average of 3.38 goals per game. The junior attacker added 18 assists for a total of 72 points which ranked third among PBC leaders. Over the course of the season, Boas recorded 11 hat tricks with a season-best seven goals in UM's win over William Jewell on March 16. Boas' season also featured a PBC Co-Offensive Player of the Year award alongside a First Team All-PBC honor.
 
Shaffner proved himself to be one of the top faceoff specialists in all of Div. II with the third best faceoff win percentage in the nation at .693. The Louisville, Ky. native also led the PBC with a total of 229 faceoff wins on the season while adding a league best 137 ground balls on the season. In the Falcons' season-opening win over Emmanuel, set a career-high with 28 faceoff wins while setting the Montevallo single season record with a total of 139 ground balls.
 
Chalut's all-region selection follows a season that saw the junior tally a total of 33 points on the season with 25 goals and eight assists. The junior added a trio of man-up goals and scored the game-winner in UM's first win over UIndy in program history. Chalut recorded four hat tricks on the season with a season-high four goals on three separate occasions. Chalut's performances earned the Fallbrook, Ca. native a First Team All-PBC selection.
 
Finally, Andrews completes the Falcons' All-Region selections after appearing in all 16 games for Montevallo and adding nine points on four goals and five assists. Defensively, the St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada native tallied six caused turnovers on the season while adding 18 ground balls. The junior defenseman set a season-high with two caused turnovers in Montevallo's road win over Emory & Henry on Feb. 7.
