MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Men's Basketball Head Coach
Anthony Komara has announced the hiring of Nick Fertitta as the Falcons' Assistant Men's Basketball Coach.
Fertitta joins the Falcons' coaching staff after spending two seasons as the Graduate Assistant Coach at Elmhurst University where he helped to lead the squad to a Division III national ranking and a bid to the NCAA Tournament after winning the 2024 CCIW Tournament. In his time at Elmhurst, Fertitta coordinated the Bluejays' year-round lifting program while conducting academic oversight for the team. While assisting with the program's recruiting efforts, the Gastonia, N.C. native led on-court workouts in both individual and group setting while creating scouting reports and gameplans for select opponents. Fertitta's duties at Elmhurst also including managing all travel logistics and running the Bluejays' social media accounts.
During his time as an undergraduate student, Fertitta spent two summers as the Housing and Staffing Director for the Hoop Group. His duties at the Hoop Group including working with the Director of Operations to organize large AAU tournaments across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic areas while organizing the housing for hundreds of campers, staff and coaches.
In his time as an undergraduate student, Fertitta spent four seasons as the University of Virginia Women's Basketball manager where he led and oversaw the scheduling and duties of 10 team managers while assisting the Video Coordinator in capturing both practices and games with the inclusion of stat tracking. Fertitta also led drills during practice while assisting with travel logistics for the squad.
In January of 2023, Fertitta graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in economics and psychology before earning his master's of business administration from Elmhurst University in May of 2025.
Fertitta will join Komara on the Falcons' coaching staff for the start of the 2025-26 season in the fall.
