Milledgeville, Ga. – The Montevallo men's and women's cross-country teams competed at the Bobcat Invitational on Friday night, Sept. 26, in Milledgeville, Ga. The meet marked the Falcons' third race of the season and featured a competitive field across the region.
In the women's 5k, which started at 5:00 p.m., the Falcons placed fifth overall with 160 points. Junior
Sable George led the pack with a strong eighth-place finish with a tine of 20:06.55, her second top 15 performance of the season.
Ava Taylor was next across the line for the Falcons, finishing 30
th in 21:03.29, followed by
Morgan Remley in 37
th place finishing at 21:33.85.
Kaitlynn Moore placed 47
th in 21:57.51, and
Breanna Aultman rounded out the scoring fifth with a 66
th place finish in 23:06.53. The Falcons remained competitive in a deep field on the road.
In the men's 8k, which followed at 6:00 p.m., Montevallo recorded an impressive third place finish with 91 points, continuing a strong upward trend for the squad.
Zak Ferguson delivered another standout performance, finishing second overall with a time of 26:01.67, just five seconds off his time last week.
Jackson Howse followed with an 11
th place finish in 26:58.10, while
Joshua Howard placed 24
th finishing with a time of 28:00.53 to help anchor the scoring effort.
Ryan Cox finished in 32
nd in 28:20.33, and
Estan Wrights rounded out the top five in 39
th place with a time of 28:42.31. The men's team has now earned back-to-back top four finished after placing ninth in the season opener, showcasing improved depth and consistency across the board.
Montevallo will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11
th at 8:00 a.m. at the UAH Chargers XC Invitational in Huntsville.
