MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Athletics has named Men's Basketball's
Bryant James and Women's Basketball's
Emily Mouser as the Montevallo Players of the Week presented by Jack's for the week of Jan. 26.
Bryant James (Men's Basketball)
Freshman guard
Bryant James turned in a standout week for the Falcons, playing a pivotal role in a pair of Gulf South Conference victories while delivering the most productive stretch of his collegiate career. Across two games, James averaged 23.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, while shooting efficiently from the field and providing timely perimeter scoring.
James opened the week with a career-best performance in Montevallo's 93-77 win over Trevecca Nazarene. He poured in a career-high 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 6-of-10 from beyond the arc, while adding three assists. James was instrumental in Montevallo's early momentum, knocking down multiple first-half triples to help the Falcons build a double-digit lead before continuing his shooting into the second half to keep the lead against Trevecca.
He followed that effort with another strong showing in Saturday's 71-66 victory over Lee. James finished with 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range, adding four rebounds and three assists. His pair of second-half triples helped Montevallo create separation in a tightly contested contest, as the Falcons secured their fourth consecutive conference win.
Emily Mouser (Women's Basketball)
Freshman guard
Emily Mouser continued to be a steady offensive presence for the Falcons, leading Montevallo in scoring across two Gulf South Conference matchups. Mouser averaged 13.5 points and 5.5 rebounds for the week, while showcasing efficiency and poise as a primary scoring option.
Mouser opened the week with a team-high 15-point performance against Trevecca Nazarene, shooting 5-of-12 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line while pulling down six rebounds. She scored consistently throughout the contest and helped keep the Falcons within striking distance with key baskets in each quarter.
She followed with another double-figure outing against Lee, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting to go along with five rebounds. Mouser provided a spark during Montevallo's second-quarter response and continued to attack offensively in the second half, capping off a productive week for the freshman guard.
