BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Zak Ferguson's first-place finish highlighted the action for Montevallo Track and Field at the UAB Green and Gold Invite on Friday.
Ferguson earned a first place finish in the Men's 3000m, finishing with a time of 8:23.94. The freshman placed ahead of 17 NCAA DI opponents.
Corey Perkins and Drew Cheslock also earned a top-five finishes, as Perkins placed fourth in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.85m and Cheslock finished fifth in the 400m with a personal record time of 48.40. Amari Lewis placed sixth in the 60m with a time of 6.96, while Jack Pesarchick placed seventh in the High Jump with a jump of 2.01m. Preston Bennett led the way for the throwers, placing 19th in the Shot Put with a distance of 12.20m.
The Falcons saw five new personal records on the men's side in Jamell Beatty (60m – 7.05), Kendric Croft (60m Hurdles – 8.73), Drew Cheslock (400m – 48.40), Zak Ferguson (3000m – 8:23.94), and Jack Pesarchick (High Jump – 2.01m).
On the women's side Sarah Turner and Asta Hagglund earned the highest place finishes of the day. Turner placed 12th in the One Mile with a time of 5:25.12, while Hagglund finished 12th in the High Jump with a jump of 1.50m.
McKenna Jackson led the way for the throwers placing 14th in the Shot Put (10.76m) and 16th in the Weight Throw (14.37m).
The Falcons saw five new personal records on the women's side in Natania Nasieku (60m Hurdles – 9.83), Ka'Mya Jackson (200m – 25.58), Ka'Mya Jackson (400m – 58.84), Ava Taylor (3000m – 10:34.01), and Alexis Valentine (3000m – 12:00.57).
Montevallo closes the weekend with the UAB Invite on Saturday.
