MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 23 Montevallo softball team returns to Softball Stadium at Orr Park this weekend, as the Falcons host Valdosta State in a three-game series (Mar. 20-21).
Montevallo holds an overall record of 22-6 and a 7-5 mark in Gulf South Conference play. Last time out, the Falcons captured a series victory over West Alabama on the road. Taylor Lloyd led the way in the circle, with a pair of complete game victories, leading her to being named GSC Pitcher of the Week. Bentlee Stiner led the way at the plate against the Tigers with four hits and three RBIs.
On the season, Taylor Rogers has a team leading .395 batting average, 34 hits and 21 stolen bases (second in GSC). Becca Benton leads the entire GSC in RBIs (33) and home runs (ten), while ranking second in slugging percentage (.810). Makayla Peters leads the team in walks with 15 (fourth in GSC).
Lloyd has been solid for the Falcons all season in the circle and leads the GSC in wins (15), ERA (1.64), complete games (13) and innings pitched (110.2), while ranking second in strikeouts (100). Kinsley Byrd (4-3) posts a 2.66 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 47.1 innings of action.
Valdosta State holds a 14-12 overall record and an 8-4 mark in GSC play. The Blazers swept Delta State last weekend, before splitting a midweek doubleheader with Rollins on Wednesday.
Chloe Eichelberger posts a team leading .415 batting average, while Saylor McNearney leads the team in hits (26), home runs (eight), and RBIs (18). Giselle Portanova (3-3) has seen the most time in the circle for the Blazers, posting a 4.00 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 49 innings.
First pitch on Friday at Softball Stadium at Orr Park is set for 1:00 p.m. CST.
