MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team returns to action this week, as the Falcons host Georgia Southwestern in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Montevallo enters the week with a 16-4 overall record and a 3-3 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Falcons went 4-1 last week, sweeping a doubleheader over Spring Hill and earning a 2-1 series victory over Trevecca Nazarene.
Becca Benton has been solid at the plate all season, leading the entire GSC in home runs (nine) and RBIs (30), while ranking second in slugging percentage (.964). Bentlee Stiner leads the team in batting average (.394) and hits (26 – fifth in GSC). Taylor Rogers ranks second in the GSC in stolen bases (16), while Makayla Peters is tied for second in walks in the league (14).
Taylor Lloyd has been solid in the circle, leading the GSC in innings pitched (76.2), while ranking second in strikeouts (67) and wins (ten), and fourth in ERA (1.83). Kinsley Byrd and Berkley Mooney have each earned three wins apiece in the circle.
Georgia Southwestern enters the week with a 9-4 overall record. Last time out, the Lady Canes split a doubleheader at Miles on Feb. 24.
Kendall Huelsman holds team leads in batting average (.500), RBIs (17), and slugging percentage (.889), while Madison Banks has a team leading 19 hits.
Caylee Johnson (5-3) leads the way in the circle, with a 3.70 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 41.2 innings of work. Jacquelyn Burns (3-0) holds a 4.96 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 29.2 innings.
