MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 23 Montevallo softball team hits the road to face off against Columbus State in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Montevallo enters the week with a 25-6 overall record and a 10-5 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Falcons swept a three-game series over Valdosta State last time out. Taylor Rogers led the way for Montevallo on the weekend, with a .556 batting average, three RBIs, and six stolen bases. Taylor Lloyd earned a pair of complete game victories in the circle, while Mya Young pitched four scoreless innings to earn her first win of the season.
On the season, Rogers leads the team in batting average (.411), hits (39), and stolen bases (27), while Becca Benton leads the team in home runs (11) and RBIs (35), and Makayla Peters holds a team leading 16 walks. In the circle, Lloyd (17-2) leads the way with a 1.80 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 124.2 innings of work. Kinsley Byrd (4-3) posts a 2.92 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 50.1 innings.
Columbus State enters the week with an 18-9 overall record and a 7-2 mark in GSC play. Last time out, the Cougars swept Middle Georgia State in a three-game series last weekend.
On the season, Aubree Ussery leads the team in batting average (.450), and hits (36), while Anna Waites holds team leads in RBIs (34) and home runs (nine). Khloe Shears (10-2) has seen the most time in the circle, holding a 1.75 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 80 innings of work.
First pitch at Cougar Field is set for 2:00 p.m. CST on Tuesday.
