LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its latest NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll on Tuesday, as Montevallo moved up one spot to No. 16.
Montevallo holds an overall record of 35-7 and an 18-6 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Falcons earned 155 points to earn the No. 16 spot. Montevallo captured its seventh consecutive Gulf South Conference series win this past weekend, taking two-of-three from Christian Brothers.
Taylor Rogers leads the way at the plate, ranking second in the GSC in hits (55) and fourth in batting average (.417), while also ranking second in stolen bases (37).
The Montevallo pitching staff has been solid all year, ranking first in the league in ERA (1.78). Taylor Lloyd is tied for a GSC-leading 22 wins, while ranking second in the league in ERA (1.51) and strikeouts (140).
Two other GSC teams were mentioned in this week's poll including No. 6 AUM and No. 14 West Florida.
Montevallo returns to action today with a midweek doubleheader at Spring Hill. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. CST.
