MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Track & Field earned five podium finishes and set one school record on day two of the Gulf South Conference Outdoor Championships. The Montevallo men sit in third with 80 points, while the women rank fourth with 47 points heading into the final day.
Natania Nasieku led the way for the Falcon women, earning the lone top finish of the day. Nasieku placed first in the Triple Jump with a school record jump of 11.87m. Katie Wilkerson and Saskia Rhind also picked up podium finishes on the day. Wilkerson placed third in the Discus with a throw of 41.71m, while Rhind placed third in the Heptathlon with a point total of 4521. Rhind also contributed points for Montevallo in the High Jump (fifth – 1.55m) and Discus (sixth – 36.05m). Other point contributors for the women on day two were Asta Hagglund (Heptathlon: sixth – 3988 points), Kaitlyn Stephens (High Jump: seventh – 1.50m & Triple Jump: seventh -11.28m), Hallie Harrell (Heptathlon: seventh – 3835 points), and Makayla Amador (Triple Jump: eighth – 11.10m)
Christopher Johnson led the way for the Falcon men with the lone top finish. Johnson earned the GSC Men's Discus crown, placing first with a throw of 55.37m. Jordon Harmon also picked up a podium finish, placing third in the Triple Jump with a jump of 14.26m. Montevallo saw three other point contributors in the Discus in Ethan Fox (fourth – 47.76m), Cooper Myl (sixth – 44.52m), and Preston Bennett (seventh – 44.31m). The men saw three other point contributors in Triple Jump in DeAndre Archie (sixth – 13.68m), Marquis Trainer (seventh – 13.59m), and Drew Cheslock (eighth – 13.35m). Four Falcons contributed points in the High Jump including Corey Perkins (fourth – 1.95m), Eran Foye Jr. (fifth – 1.90m), Jack Pesarchick (sixth – 1.90m), and Jordon Harmon (eighth – 1.90m).
The GSC Outdoor championships conclude on Friday. Field events are set to start at 11:30 a.m., with track events set to follow at Noon CST.
