MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's and women's tennis teams hit the road Tuesday for a matchup against nationally ranked Columbus State in Columbus, Ga. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT.
Several Falcons remain featured in the latest ITA rankings.
Klara Podskubkova checks in at No. 71 in singles, while the men's doubles tandem of
Simon Luigs and
Guilherme Gracioli is ranked No. 38.
Christian Bacher and
Leonidas Lazarides made their debut in the doubles poll at No. 35.
Columbus State's women enter ranked No. 18 nationally with a 9-4 overall record and a 2-0 mark in Peach Belt Conference play. The Lady Cougars have won three consecutive matches, including ranked victories over No. 43 Young Harris and No. 29 Middle Georgia State. Nikoline Gullacksen leads the lineup with a No. 27 national singles ranking and an 11-2 record, while the doubles pair of Isabell Ek and Laura Pesickova also hold an 11-2 mark.
On the men's side, Columbus State is ranked No. 5 in the nation and carries a 12-2 (2-0 PBC) record into the match. Thomas Cardona (No. 26) headlines four Cougars ranked in singles, alongside Hugo Didier (No. 49), Andrea Sandrone (No. 65), and Daniel Hammond (No. 69). Sandrone leads the team with 10 singles wins, while Cardona boasts a 9-2 overall mark, including an 8-2 record at the No. 1 position. In doubles, Elias Peter and Sandrone are 10-1 at the top spot and ranked No. 21 nationally.
