BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Montevallo track and field traveled just up the road to compete in the Samford Invitational on Friday, April 14.
The men's track squad was highlighted by
Aidan Golden's third-place time of 10:31.68 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Freshman sprinter
Matthew Gray added a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash to his debut season with a time of 10.90 seconds.
Brayden Marlowe posted a pair of top-ten finishes in the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles with marks of 15.39 (ninth) and 57.97 (tenth), respectively. The Falcon 4x100-meter relay team took home fourth with a time of 42.30 seconds while the 4x400-meter relay squad finished fifth with a time of 3:48.14.
In the women's races,
Amber Fisher posted the top finish of the day with a third-place time of 11:56.84 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sophomore
Hannah Smith finished seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.45 seconds. Montevallo's 4x100-meter relay team added a fourth-place finish with a time of 48.51 seconds in the event.
Joshua Pruitt posted Montevallo's top finish in the men's field events with a third-place mark of 14.56-meters in the triple jump. Freshman leaper
Isaiah Gabriel posted a fourth-place mark of 1.90-meters in the high jump.
Braxton Sanford's mark of 4.53-meters earned the sophomore fifth in the pole vault.
Nyla Shipman headlined the women's field events with a fourth-place 38.90-meters in the discus. In the women's high,
Zauren Burton posted a seventh-place mark of 1.58-meters.
Leah Dendy and
Kiffin Brun finished seventh and eighth in the triple jump with marks of 10.0 and 9.78 -meters, respectively.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Junior J'Brelin Cook notched a seventh-place finish after running the 400-meter race in 49.62 seconds.
- In the 100-meter dash, Destiny Betton and Sydney Goode both finished 13th with a time of 12.92 seconds.
- Nate Boleware took home a sixth-place finish with a mark of 1.80-meters in the high jump.
- Leah Dendy and Skylar Suggitt both finished ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.23-meters.
- Gabe Gamble's mark of 13.24-meters earned the freshman a ninth-place finish.
