MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team heads to Nashville to face off against No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene this weekend.
Montevallo holds an overall record of 9-8 and a 3-3 mark in GSC play. The Falcons opened the season, splitting a pair of games against ranked opponents at the Gulf Shores Invitational, defeating No. 24 Oklahoma Christian (3-2) and falling to No. 9 Rogers State. Montevallo posted a 3-2 record at the Chillout, as the Falcons earned wins over Kentucky Wesleyan (4-0), Shorter (4-3), and Young Harris (9-7), before falling to Georgia Southwestern and Lincoln Memorial. The Falcons opened conference play with a 2-1 series victory at West Florida. The Falcons then split a doubleheader with Spring Hill.
The Falcons hosted Mississippi College in its last conference series, dropping the series 2-1. Montevallo followed that up with a doubleheader split against Columbus State on Wednesday. The Falcons captured game one 1-0, as
Ellie Derrick hit the game winning RBI-single in the bottom of the eighth.

Mya Young combined to shutout the Cougars.

Ariana Pinder leads the team in batting average (.383) and hits (18), while
Becca Benton holds team leads in doubles (five), home runs (two), and RBIs (nine).
Taylor Lloyd has seen the most time in the circle, totaling 53.2 innings with ten appearances and nine starts. Lloyd has a team leading-40 strikeouts and three wins on the year. The junior has posted a 2.35 ERA.
Berkley Mooney posted a 2.70 ERA in 23.1 innings, while
Rachel Whiddon holds a 2.68 ERA in 15.2 innings.

The Trojans opened the year perfect in non-conference action, defeating Missouri-St. Louis, McKendree, Illinois Springfield, No. 3 Indianapolis, Shorter, Young Harris, Georgia Southwestern, Lincoln Memorial, and Kentucky Wesleyan.
Trevecca opened conference play dropping three games on the road to No. 2 Auburn Montgomery. Last weekend, the Trojans captured a 2-1 road series victory over Valdosta State.
Brianna Asmondy has been solid for the Trojans, leading the team in batting average (.422), hits (19), homeruns (seven), RBIs (17), and slugging percentage (.978). Asmondy also leads the GSC in home runs and slugging percentage.
Ashlan Sensing seen the most time in the circle, totaling 58 innings pitched with 9 appearances, eight starts which were all complete games. Sensing is 7-2 on the season with a 2.29 ERA. Haylie Brooks has posted a 4.12 ERA in 18.2 innings pitched, while Reagan Locke has a 3.50 ERA in 14 innings pitched.
