MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team is set to host its second-to-last home series this weekend, facing off against the Delta State Lady Statesmen (Apr. 4-5).
So Far This Season…
Montevallo holds an overall record of 19-19 and a 9-12 mark in GSC play.
The Falcons opened the season, splitting a pair of games against ranked opponents at the Gulf Shores Invitational, defeating No. 24 Oklahoma Christian (3-2) and falling to No. 9 Rogers State. Montevallo posted a 3-2 record at the Chillout, as the Falcons earned wins over Kentucky Wesleyan (4-0), Shorter (4-3), and Young Harris (9-7), before falling to Georgia Southwestern and Lincoln Memorial. The Falcons opened conference play with a 2-1 series victory at West Florida. The next week the Falcons split a midweek doubleheader with Spring Hill, before dropping the weekend series with Mississippi College (2-1). Montevallo then split its midweek doubleheader with Columbus State, before dropping three games to No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene on the weekend. The Falcons followed that up dropping a pair of midweek games at Georgia Southwestern, before falling in the weekend series to Alabama Huntsville (2-1). Montevallo went on to win five in a row, sweeping No. 24 West Alabama at home, winning all three games in walk-off fashion, before notching a pair of run rule victories over Miles.
Last week the Falcons went 4-1, sweeping a doubleheader at Miles and taking a 2-1 series victory at Lee.
Bentlee Stiner led the way last week going 11-for-18 (.611) with five home runs. Stiner's efforts led her to garnering GSC and NFCA Player of the Week honors.
On the season,
Ariana Pinder has a team leading .348 batting average, while
Riley Tyree leads the team in hits (39), doubles (ten), and triples (five).
Molly Pendley has hit the most home runs with seven, while
Becca Benton posts the highest slugging percentage (.641).
Taylor Lloyd has seen the most time in the circle, pitching a total of 113 innings. Lloyd has recorded eight wins, two saves and 92 strikeouts, while posting an ERA of 2.73. Berkely Mooney,
Rachel Whiddon, and
Mya Young all have picked up three wins this season. Mooney posts a 3.18 ERA in 39.2 innings and Whiddon posts a 3.76 in 41 innings.

Delta States holds an overall record of 11-20 and a 5-14 mark in GSC play.
The Lady Statesmen have gone 6-6 in non-conference action throughout the season, which includes wins over Lincoln Memorial, Young Harris, Kentucky Wesleyan, Ouachita Baptist, and Arkansas Monticello (twice). Delta State opened the conference slate with a pair of series wins over Lee (2-0) and Union (2-1), before getting swept by West Florida. The Lady Statesmen fell in its next series, dropping two of three at Christian Brothers. Delta State lost its next eight GSC games, falling to Valdosta State (3-0), West Alabama (3-0), and Alabama Huntsville (2-0).
On the season, Kyleigh Wheaton has a team leading .347 batting average and 34 hits. Emma Collier leads the team in doubles (seven), home runs (four), RBIs (23), and slugging percentage (.590). Emma Enderud has seen the most time in the circle, pitching a total of 86 innings. Enderud is 1-8 on the season with a 4.23 ERA. Ellie Cox posts a 5.13 ERA in 56 innings pitched.
Series History Against Delta State…
Since 2015, these two squads have met 20 times with the series being tied, 10-10. The Falcons won the series last year, taking two of three in Cleveland, Miss.
