CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Montevallo track and field teams opened the 2025 Gulf South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a pair of podium finishes and multiple personal records set on Thursday.
Emily Wolf earned the highest finish for the Falcons, placing first in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 49.38m.
Corey Perkins also earned a podium finish, setting a personal record in the Long Jump with a jump of 7.27m. Caleb Kariuiki and
Austin Abney also captured top-ten finishes in the Long Jump, as Kariuki placed fifth with a jump of 7.07m and Abney placed tenth with a jump of 6.52m. On the women's side,
Khila Corrothers placed sixth with a season-best jump of 5.29m, while
Hallie Harrell placed seventh with a jump of 5.03m.
Josh Kreis led the way for Montevallo in the Men's Hammer Throw, placing sixth with a personal record of 44.66m.
Preston Bennett recorded a throw of 40.81m to finish 11
th.
Jackson Howse earned the highest place finish for Montevallo in running events, placing tenth in the Men's 10000m with a time of 32:43.33.
Josie McDonald set a personal record in the Women's 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 12:39.84. On the men's side,
Cameron Prosser finished with a time of 10:40.72, while
Mateo Lopez-Hernandez clocked in at 10:48.71 in the Steeplechase.
Day two is set to start at 7 a.m. CST on Friday.
