Falcons Close GSC Championships with Pair of Top-Four Team Finishes; Nine Saturday Podium Finishes

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Montevallo track and field teams both earned fourth place finishes to close the Gulf South Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday.
 
The women totaled 99.5 points overall to secure the top-four finish, while the men garnered 91.5 points to secure its fourth place finish.
 
Katie Wilkerson led the way for Montevallo on day three, breaking a GSC record and securing a NCAA DII Provisional Mark in the Women's Discus Throw. Wilkerson placed first overall with a throw of 46.08m. The freshman earned another podium finish, placing second in the Women's Javelin Throw with a distance of 38.87m. Wilkerson placed sixth overall in the Women's Shot Put with a throw of 11.31m.
 
Emily Wolf closed her solid week with three top-six finishes on Saturday, which included another podium finish. The sophomore placed second in the Women's Shot Put (13.27m), fifth in the Women's Discus Throw (39.83m), and sixth in the Women's Javelin Throw (32.70m). Wolf's efforts throughout the whole week led her to being named GSC Most Outstanding Field Performer.
 
Eran Foye Jr. also earned a podium finish, placing second overall in the Men's High Jump with a jump of 1.90m. Aidan Baker and Corey Perkins finished right behind him, tying for third place with identical jumps of 1.85m. Zane Weeks earned the final podium finish for UM in field events, placing third in the Men's Javelin Throw with a distance of 50.83m.
 
Austin Abney secured a pair of top-six finishes, placing fourth in the Men's Decathlon (5717) and sixth in the Men's Pole Vault (4.10m). Zauren Burton placed fourth overall in the Women's High Jump with a jump of 1.55m. Elizabeth Hayhurst earned a pair of fifth place finishes in the Women's High Jump (1.55m) and Women's Javelin Throw (33.40m), while Leah Dendy picked up a fifth-place finish in the Women's Triple Jump (9.96m). Preston Bennett and Caleb Newell placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the Men's Shot Put. Bennett recorded a distance of 13.32m, while Newell recorded a throw of 13.14m.
 
Amari Lewis and Slate Rohrer had solid outings, recording podium finishes for Montevallo in running events. Lewis placed third overall in the Men's 100m with a time of 10.80, while Slate Rohrer placed third in the Men's 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.79. Rohrer also captured a fifth-place finish in the Men's 400m Hurdles with a time of 54.37.
 
Tyrone Reese earned a pair of sixth place finishes in the Men's 400m Hurdles (55.47) and the Men's 110m Hurdles (15.68). Walter Womack and Dwight Bellamy both earned seventh place finishes on the day, as Womack ran a 10.96 in the Men's 100m and Bellamy clocked in at 22.44 in the Men's 200m. Ja'lon Benson placed eighth overall in the Men's 100m with a time of 10.96.
 
Three Falcons picked up ninth place finishes in running events including, Kendrick Croft (Men's 110m Hurdles – 16.06), Khila Corrothers (Women's 100m – 12.48), and Julian Fore (Men's 800m – 1:54.86). A pair of Falcons secured tenth place finishes in Ryder Black (Men's 100m Hurdles – 16.14) and Latreveon Figgers (Men's 100m – 11.09).
