2001 UM Hall of Fame Inductee Carla Sester-Ragland was a key member of one of the most successful series of teams at UM. A four-year starter, Sester-Ragland is the school's all-time leader in kills with 1,845, and hitting attacks with 4,196 and is among the all-time leaders in several career and single-season categories. She was a part of a team that finished with an amazing .873 (173-25) winning percentage in her four years at UM.

Sester-Ragland is a two-time NAIA All-American, named to the Third Team in 1994 and to the Second Team in 1995. She was also a part of a successful Falcon volleyball team that concluded a string of 14 consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances at the 1995 NAIA Nationals in San Diego, Calif.

A 1995 UM graduate, Sester-Ragland is currently the head coach at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala., where she was named 5A Coach of the Year in 1997, and coached two teams to the 5A State Volleyball playoffs, including a fourth-place finish in 1996 and second place finish in 1997. She was selected to coach at the 1998 Alabama All-Star game, and is president of the Alabama Junior Olympic Volleyball Club.
