Lewis Brooks, who is an alum of the University of Montevallo men's basketball program, currently serves as the Superintendent for the Shelby County School System. He has worked in public education for three decades, serving as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, elementary and middle school coordinator and assistant superintendent. He received his Doctor of Education degree from Samford University in 2010. He has been awarded with the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the UM College of Education and Samford University's Learning for Life Award. He was recognized by the National School Public Relations Association in 2020 as a "Superintendent to Watch". Brooks was instrumental in the creation of the Rob Spivery Endowed Scholarship to assist fifth-year members of the men's basketball program with scholarships. He is currently second in program history in the men's basketball record book with his 3-point field goal percentage of .434 during his playing career from 1984-88.
