Brijin Hales

2002 UM Hall of Fame Inductee Brijin Hales was a key member of one of the most successful series of women's volleyball teams at UM. A four-year starter, Hales is fourth in career kills with 1,478 and is among the all-time leaders in several career and single-season categories. She is fourth all-time in total kills, sixth all-time in hitting percentage and third all-time in games played. Along with teammates and UM Hall of Fame members Gretchen Koppersmith and Carla-Sester Ragland, Hales was a part of a team that finished with an amazing .873 (173-25) winning percentage in her four years at UM. Hales was a Second Team NAIA All-American as a senior, and a Honorable Mention NAIA All-American selection her junior season. She was also a part of a successful Falcon volleyball team that concluded a string of 14 consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances at the 1995 NAIA National Tournament in San Diego, Calif.

A 1996 graduate of the University of Montevallo, Hales received her master of arts in teaching with an English emphasis from the University of West Alabama, and has taught and coached at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind. She is currently the head of the English department and coaches volleyball at the International School of Aruba.
