Melford James, Jr. was a first team All-Gulf South Conference selection once and a second team All-Conference selection once during his playing career, which spanned 2006-07. The Brampton, Ontario native was also named a first team NCAA Division II All-South Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) during his playing career. James, Jr. was named to the Gulf South Conference All-Decade Team following his career. James, Jr. was the starting goalkeeper for the Falcons as they made their first appearance in the NCAA Division II Final Four during his senior season. James, Jr. is tied at the top of the program record books for most wins by a goalkeeper in a single season with 17 victories and most shutouts by a goalkeeper in a single season with 11 shutouts during the 2007 season. James, Jr. also owns the second longest scoreless streak in a single season in program history with a scoreless streak of 514 minutes during the 2007 season.
