Tammy Richardson, a graduate of Selma High School, was a student assistant for the volleyball team from 1976-1980.  Richardson has become the winningest high school volleyball coach in the history of Alabama high school athletics. She has earned more than 1,400 victories and played a key role in the development of the AHSAA Volleyball Elite Eight tournament.  Richardson has spent over three decades in the sport of volleyball with coaching stints at Pelham High School, Oak Mountain High School, Spanish Fort High School, St. Luke's Episcopal School, and McAdory High School.  During her coaching career, she won two state titles, four state runner-up titles, 11 area championships, along with 12 trips to the AHSAA Final Four and 18 trips to the Elite Eight.  She has coached more than 50 players who have gone on to earn a college volleyball scholarship and has produced two prep All-Americans and one National Player of the Year.  Richardson, a 2008 AHSAA Hall of Fame inductee, has been named AHSAA Coach of the Year, State, Section, and ASAHPERD Coach of the Year.
