She was named All-District 27 as a junior but she saved the best for her senior year. After leading the Falcons to a record of 40-7 she was selected as a First Team NAIA All-American, Asics First Team All-American and Russell Athletic All-American. She was again selected All-District 27, was the District MVP and was voted the teams MVP.

In addition to etching her name among most UM offensive records Young found time to be a coordinator of Special Olympics, serve as a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society, serve as an active member of Phi Chi Theta Business Fraternity from 1986 to 1990, served as a member of the GOLD cabinet in 1990 and set standards for all who follow her in one of the Southeast's most successful volleyball programs.
